Lesbian Poem

When you say you miss me on the phone:

When you say you miss me
That’s in theory, right?
Not in the way that keeps me
Warm at night
Not in the way I’m known
Through the fascia to the bone
When you say you miss me
Words sound slight.

When you say you miss me
You can’t feel it, true?
Well, maybe in the moment
Then you do
But when I’m there for real
You run away and squeal
When you say you miss me
You must hide.

When you say you miss me
It’s just words you say
To keep that empty feeling
Held at bay
That ache connects with me
Like a lion on a flea
When you say you miss me
Go away.
